As the name implies "A Note" is a minimalist installation. It consists of three organ pipes tuned to almost the same pitch. When more than one pipe is playing beats are produced. Previously the pipes have been operated, seemingly at random, by sensors which react to visitors passing by. Since this exhibition takes place in a university I have connected the blowers to three manual switches so that the visitor can follow what happens. There are four possible situations: when one pipe is on there are no beats, just a soft purr. When two pipes are on there are regular beats. When three pipes are on there are rhythmical beats. When no pipes are on there is silence.

「ひとつの音」は名前のとおり、ミニマリスト・インスタレーションである。ほぼ同じ音程に調律された三本のオルガンパイプからできている。二本以上のパイプが鳴ると,うなりが起こる。以前これらのパイプは、行き交う観客に反応するセンサーによって、見かけ上はランダムに操作されていた。私は、これがある大学で展示されたときから、送風機を三つの手動スイッチにつなげることにしたのだが、それによって観客も何が起こっているかを理解できるようになった。４通りの状況がありうるのだ：一つのパイプだけが稼働する場合は、うなりはなく、穏やかな音が聞こえるだけである。二つのパイプが稼動すると、規則的なうなりが聞こえる。三つのパイプが稼動すると、うなりにリズムが加わる。どのパイプも稼動しなければ、あるのは静寂のみである。
