This was the first of several music machines I have built. A number of composers have written pieces for it. They include the "Reversibles" by Tom Johnson, so called because they are intended to be played forwards, backwards and turned over. Also "All Change"(1981) by Schaun Tozer for flute and Flute Playing Machine, a twelve minute piece, extracts of which can be seen on the video. There will be a performance of this work at the concert "Music for Machines — Music about Machines" on December 1st, 6PM in the Komaba Museum with the flute part played by Dōgen Kinowaki.

これは、私がいくつか制作した音楽機械の最初のものである。何人かの作曲家がこれのために曲を作っている。その一つがTom Johnson作曲の“Reversibles”であるが、この名前は、これらが前からも、後ろからも、裏返しても演奏できるようになっていることから来ている。Schaun Tozerがフルートとフルート演奏機械のために作曲した12分間の作品“All Change”(1981)も、その一部をビデオで見ることができる。この作品は木ノ脇 道元のフルート伴奏により12月１日18時より演奏会「機械のための音楽 — 機械についての音楽」で駒場博物館で演奏される予定である。
