Seminar 2012

The seminar in 2012 was held at Seoul National University (SNU) from 13th to 15th November. Its general theme was Musical Production, Performance, Research and Aesthetics in Modern Korea and Japan. The participants were three teachers and seven students from the Korean and one teacher and five students from the Japanese side. A part of the teachers and students from the Korean side came from the Asian Music Research Institute of Seoul National University. The seminar was also supported by the Institute for Japanese Studies of Seoul National University, which was the host for the open presentations and the concert.

Program:
Nov. 13: Discussion of each student’s papers
Nov. 14: Koreans students join Japanese students for a trip through Seoul, after dinner visit of a concert with Korean avant-garde music
Nov. 15: Lectures by prof. Hermann Gottschewski (UT) and prof. Hilary Finchum-Sung (SNU), open presentation of the student’s papers followed by a concert with music for traditional Korean instruments, played by prof. Ji-young Yi (SNU, Gayageum) and students of SNU.
